Our Impact

We believe that a thriving copper industry is fundamental to Colombia’s social and economic advancement. Since 2016, Colombia Copper has invested heavily in various social and environmental initiatives across local communities and municipalities. Relative to its size, Colombia Copper has one of the largest sustainability budgets among exploration companies in Colombia.

Social Investment Programs

Collaborating with stakeholders across local communities and regional municipalities, Colombia Copper focuses on building trust and strengthening relationships through transparent communication and active community engagement. With an emphasis on capacity building, our community-led support initiatives focus on six investment areas.

Education

Support for teacher training activities and student school fees, the delivery of educational activities and materials.

Food Security

Delivery of emergency food supplies and market deliveries, support for community-based sustainable agriculture initiatives.

Infrastructure Improvement

Construction and improvement of community infrastructure such as schools, houses, roads, bridges and health centres.

Culture & Sports

Support for traditional community ceremonies and activities, as well as local sporting events.

Health

Delivery of medication and non-emergency healthcare services, alongside support for traditional medical practices and ceremonies.

Productive Projects

Community support for subsistence farming projects, as well as income-generating initiatives and business development supports.

In 2025, over 200 organizational strengthening initiatives were implemented by Colombia Copper, facilitating the participation of community leaders and authorities in training activities, meetings, and assemblies.

Organizational Strengthening

Since many of our stakeholders are located in geographically isolated areas with limited government support, Colombia Copper supports community leaders by covering transportation and accommodation costs so they can meet and collaborate. These meetings improve local governance, build local capacity and intercommunity partnerships, and reinforce autonomy and identity laying the groundwork for inclusive, community-led development.

The program also includes initiatives in support of operations and maintenance of 15 Indigenous Community Council houses, which play a crucial role in providing temporary accommodation for community members travelling for medical care, administrative procedures, and institutional activities.

Humanitarian Support & Health

Colombia Copper provides critical humanitarian health supports to communities with limited access to healthcare due to geographic isolation. We help support transportation for community members that require travel for life-saving care including emergency medical evacuations for critical cases, leveraging our helicopters in the field.

Between 2023 and 2025, Colombia Copper performed 78 medical evacuations for local community members. Additionally, nearly 1,000 people benefited from various humanitarian supports in 2025.

Environmental Initiatives & Partnerships

Colombia Copper works alongside a variety of environmental organizations to develop programs with socio-environmental initiatives, serving to restore and conserve the natural ecosystem while promoting sustainable social development and capacity building for local communities.

REDD+

Colombia Copper partnered with Colombian NGO Fondo Acción on the Vigía del Fuerte Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) project. In 2022, the Company established a fund to support the conservation and restoration of more than 41,000 hectares of endangered rainforest in Antioquia, Colombia, while improving the quality of life of 200 families across four communities in the region.

In its first two years, the program prevented the deforestation of 484 hectares of forest. The project expects to generate carbon credits and will reinvest the proceeds through a revolving fund to support sustainable community initiatives. Fondo Acción has also delivered community workshops and training sessions focused on forest conservation and strengthening food security, including training and materials to support sustainable food production.

Demercurization

Since 2023, Colombia Copper has supported Fundación Flora y Fauna (the Flora & Fauna Foundation) in delivering two agroecology initiatives to rehabilitate seven hectares of land contaminated by lead, mercury and arsenic from illegal gold mining, heavy machinery and agrochemical use. Across two communities in the Chocó department, the programs have strengthened food security for nearly 70 families by establishing community nurseries and delivering workshops on agroecosystems and sustainable agriculture. With a particular focus on female-headed households, the initiatives have trained more than 250 community members, with women representing over 50% of participants.

COCOMACIA: Community Nurseries

Between 2025 and 2026, Colombia Copper worked closely with the COCOMACIA Council to strengthen and expand community nurseries across the Chocó department, combining Indigenous knowledge with sustainable farming techniques to restore areas degraded by illegal gold mining.

The program trained 40 participants to establish two permanent community nurseries that supply plant material for land rehabilitation. Ecological rehabilitation efforts across the Tutunendo and San Antonio de Icho districts will build the skills and capacity of 2,100 community residents, strengthen organizational governance and create opportunities to diversify household incomes through sustainable agriculture.
